Kodama is Marcus D's ode to Japanese summers. Not the sweaty and sticky summers that occur in the concrete jungle of Tokyo, but the relaxing and oftentimes spiritual experiences that take place far out in the countryside and near the mountains; when we take a break from the world and re-engage with our roots.

Kodama was inspired by the mythological forest spirit of the same name, and draws heavily on themes of traditional Japanese summers like open-air onsen, hanabi, matsuri, and increased encounters with the spiritual world, especially during holidays like Obon (the Buddhist holiday where the spirits of deceased ancestors are said to visit their loved ones).

With progressive and ever-evolving scenery brought to life through mc_puffy's bright and welcoming single covers, Kodama crafts a unique story and experience for every listener's imagination, no matter where they come from or what their summer traditions are.
